In less than 12 hours, the Vanua o Betoraurau collected in excess of one hundred thousand Fijian dollars at the Siga Vou kei Betoraurau (SVB) fundraising event on Friday 28th July 2023.
The event was marked with joyous commemoration of the Vanua’s initiative by people of Betoraurau who turned up in numbers to the capital of Betoraurau.
The amount raised and the attendance signified the people’s support for pursuing good governance, development and financial security of the Vanua.
SVB Chairman Taniela Naika commended the camaraderie and unity of the Vanua towards the Siga Vou kei Betoraurau initiative and vision.
“We have taken a significant step forward.”
“I’m never more proud today seeing what we have achieved together for the future generations of Betoraurau. SVB is now a living memory of what we had only imagine many many years ago and I am blessed to live and witness this day” Mr Naika said.
“How this event and organisation will continue into the years after we are gone, will be for our future generations. We can be proud that we have taken the hardest task by initiating it” Mr Naika said.
Mr Naika remains optimistic about the future of the Vanua o Betoraurau and its people.
“There are great things to come for Betoraurau and her people, there will be hurdles to teach us along the way, and this Vanua will prosper when we remain united with God as our Sovereign” Mr Naika said.
SVB declared the amount of $114,348.15 FJD in donations to the Vanua at the conclusion of the event.
The Board of Trustees will meet on Monday 7th August to receive the organising committee’s SWOT analysis of the event and final declaration of donations received towards the event. The committee has also discussed its intention to visit every Yavusa to present a final report.
